LUNCH & MEALS ON WHEELS

Our Meals on Wheels service is dedicated to supporting seniors within Angelina County, and certain areas within Tyler and San Augustine Counties, through the provision of free or low-cost meals delivered to their homes. We believe in offering a helping hand to our community's elderly citizens who may have limited access to nutritious meals or face difficulties preparing them.

Our Meals on Wheels, (MOW) service is supported by the Deep East Texas Council of Governments, (DETCOG) but requires that seniors register and qualify for the service. Individuals must be 60 years of age or older or have a spouse who is over the age of 60 years. The MOW program provides home-delivered meals to seniors who may be homebound due to illness, disability, or social constraints. Our go is to help them maintain their independence and continue living in their own homes for as long as safely possible.

We also partner with Medicaid and United Health Care, both of which cover the costs for Meals on Wheels for individuals of any age based on program requirements that allow for an expansion of services beyond that of only seniors. This means that if you are a recipient of Medicaid or have coverage through United Health Care you may be eligible for Meals on Wheels. This program ensures that individuals who are unable to prepare their own meals due to health or mobility issues still have access to healthy, nutritious food.
